How Photo Housekeeper works

Getting started
Choose what to scan
Licensed users can scan their entire Apple Photos library, a particular album, or a selected date range. The one-time Free Preview is automatically limited to photographs from the most recent six months.
Analysis
Find similar photographs
Choose Strict, Normal, or Broad similarity. Normal is recommended for most users because it identifies photographs that are visually very similar even when they are not exact duplicates. A progress indicator shows that analysis is underway.
Review
Review similar photographs in Apple Photos
Photo Housekeeper creates a review album with each group of similar photographs placed together for easy comparison. Photo Housekeeper never automatically deletes photographs.
Conversion
Convert RAW photographs to JPEG
Choose a maximum JPEG size between 500 KB and 10 MB. Photo Housekeeper creates high-quality JPEG copies while preserving the finished appearance of the photographs.
Results
Review your storage saving
After conversion, Photo Housekeeper reports the estimated disk-space saving available if the reviewed RAW originals are deleted.
Important safety information
Deleting a Photo Housekeeper album does not delete the photographs it contains.
In a review album, pressing ordinary Delete removes a photograph from that album only. To delete a photograph from the Apple Photos Library and reclaim storage, select it and use Command–Delete or Apple Photos' Delete Photo(s) command. Apple Photos first moves deleted photographs to Recently Deleted, where they can normally be recovered for about 30 days.
